Well, hello there, my friends. It’s been a while, hasn’t it?! It’s been exactly one whole year since my last recipe went up on the blog.
One. Whole. Year.
And oh what a year it’s been! I took an unofficial hiatus from Sweet Like Cocoa for a whole 12 months to focus on helping my significant other in starting up and growing the family businesses he was a part of.
It was a great experience! Many, many, things were learned. And much fun was had.
The decision to take a step away from this blog was a tough one. But I knew it was something I had to do if I wanted to uphold the standard I set for myself when I started this blog. I knew the quality would suffer, as my focus would be spread too thin. Pun intended. It would have been like having an empty jar of peanut butter and trying to scrape the last little bits off of the sides and corners and lid and wherever else you can scrape from and ending up with a 3/4 naked slice of bread because the PB scrapings were only enough to lightly cover a tiny little corner of the bread. In other words, it would have been horribly unsatisfying and, overall, just plain unacceptable.
Fast forward to the present moment, and I am at a bit of a crossroads in life. The ‘family’ aspect of ‘family business’ resulted in the implosion of things in a rather unfashionable manner. While upsetting at first, I am grateful for the things I have learned and experienced, and ready to get back into doin’ my own thing. Starting with numero uno, THIS BLOG.
Despite putting (admittedly) zero effort into my content this past year, SLC has kept decent traffic, and there have been A LOT of new people who’ve subscribed. I was shocked when I updated my list and saw the number of new subscribers. To everyone, whether recently joined or my OG crew, I thank you for being here. Bein’ patient. Readin’ my blabs. Makin’ my recipes. I have received tonnes of questions, comments and pictures, and I appreciate them all!
I ask for one more thing of you – a little more patience, as I get back into the swing of things and gain my bearings once again. I am a little rusty, but I am working on getting a recipe up just in time for Christmas! Stay tuned 🙂
2019 marks the beginning of comeback season!
